When looking for new jobs in IT, you know jobs like SEO Experts in Toronto, LAMP Stack Developers in Toronto, some of them were like Remote Developers, Web Developers and Server Administrators – Full Time, part time or any contract from one of the companies in Toronto looking for and more often companies looking for Team of developers nowadays well phrased with DevOps Team!
Its never ending hunger that I believe every other LAMP stack developer or SEO Expert in that thriving these days specially in Streets of Toronto whether you are on main street of Toronto that we “Torontonians” consider as “Wall Street” or an individuals prefer to work in their own enviroment.
OK lets see how this SCAM is working on victims of IT job seekers and I am in Toronto where I was about to become Victim of this Bank Transaction Fraud by one of Recruiters (pretending to be Executive from Lee Enterprises) .
“
Story starts where me as an Entrepreneur looking for IT jobs in Toronto and applied many jobs and individual contracts such as lately we did approach to GTAA. Usual day going coming back from office its about late evening 6 or something, I get text message from number +19282756044 on my cell –
<Good day my FULL NAME as I have in most of my resumes or Professional Portfolio websites such as LinkedIn, I’m Ms “Nurika Trilestari” I’m from Lee Enterprises, we are contacting you in regards your resume which has been reviewed by our Executive Team>
<You have been selected for an Online interview with the executive hiring manager. Kindly reply back if you’re interested interested to proceed further… Thank you!>
I started to think, its late in evening of corporate hours, none of HR person going to text me at this Time of evening. Second thing bothering me was the name of scammers chosen “Nurika Trilestari”, I born in India and lived in Middle East nowadays in north america for more than decade but never heard this kind of name before!
Well, I started conversation:
<Hello ms Nurika,
Sure I am interested to move on ~ Could you please tell me job reference where I have applied … Coz I have few in my list!>
Finally after long conversation via text message they prepared me well to get connected with them till next morning saying we have taken your interview, we will give you status in morning. Scammers are well versatile these days, its like a project for them, late evening they prepare number of people to target those looking for jobs and and prepare them to become victim of crime they intent to do next morning!
I decided to post the whole story on next article, the summary is to stay alert from these scammers those are setting crime in online community and spreading it over!
Next morning, I woke up and noticed that I had message saying congratulations, you have been selected for the position of IT Consultant at Lee Enterprises, please reply when you are ready to proceed! They pretended exact same procedures as HR would do but little mistakes that we catch and stretch to an end where it breaks down! I opened all document in Photoshop that told me all were edited, they sent me edited fake cheque with $950 that they wanted me to deposit right away in my bank so that he can claim as Charge Back. They will then get that money back into the same account which mentioned on cheque and they are out from scenario; the hunting is not over though, it continues to poor jobs seekers like me looking for decent jobs to serve community of GTA.
So while looking for new jobs, be safe and browse! DO NOT PROVIDE ANY CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION and DO NOT DEPOSIT THESE KIND OF CHEQUE from scammers!
Thanks! My girlfriend just received a message from Ms Nurika Trilestari. Your post made us save some time.
This was solely my experience which I thought of sharing with folks and see if that can save some innocent and honest job seekers some time and trouble!
Cheers!
